Come February 2013 you can see the comic industry is starting to heat up as publishers start their push towards gearing up story lines leading into storytelling arcs.  Always a good time!  So on with combined review this month of both DC and Marvel releases.   You can view the full February release listings at CBR for DC here and Marvel here.

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #1 – In addition to Justice League, Geoff Johns will now also pen a companion title, the more classic-sounding Justice League of America.   The difference is obviously the roster.  While the main ‘big guns’ will continue to flesh out the team in the page of JL, the team in this title will be no slouches themselves.  Star Fire, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Hawkman, Martian Manhunter and others.  Billed as the most ‘dangerous’ team, this will be a title worth trialing, particularly as it is promised to be the beginning of the Trinity War, DC’s big event for the US summer.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #0.1 – Well, with a movie in the works, this is no surprise but it will still be welcomed by the fans!  Written by Brian Michael Bendis this ‘prelude’ sets up the new series which kicks off in March.  Marvel promises this is where BIG things are going to start.  And just what role is Iron Man going to play in this???

NOVA #1 – Another past favourite of Marvel’s returns with a fresh start coming out of the recent AvX event.  And who better to tell the story of the new Nova corps than super-team Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuiness .

UNCANNY X-MEN #1 – Have to agree with Marvel, this is a return of a true cornerstone title for Marvel which unsurprisingly is getting the restart treatment.  So apart from being one of the premier Marvel teams, why would you want to read this?  Maybe because Brian Michael Bendis is writing it and art superstar Chris Bachalo will be  lending his fine pencil skills to this new volume of your favourite mutants.

Series four of the Batman figures based on the ‘Arkham games’ brings you the highly anticipated Nighwing figure, along with another  Batman figure, also Talia and Deadshot.  You can order these figure individually or as a set.  Email me for pricing.
