And welcome back to another Previews preview… this time for the April issue for all things releasing in June.  It’s been a busy old-time here at Dunedin Comics.  Without boring you with the details, this month preview also builds in a look at Dark Horse and Image’s June releases since we didn’t get around to commenting on them yet.

On another matter, if you haven’t ‘friended’ Dunedin Comics on Facebook yet, please do.  We’re working to put a lot more content such as updates, highlights, previews etc on the page.  It’s another way of flagging items of interest for you and does help give a ‘shop’ like community feel.  So please feel free to come on in and stop by for a chat about what you see and like/dislike.  I’m only ever an e-mail/message/comment or text away.

So on with the show, don’t forget June is the start of Watchmen month from DC, A vs. X rages on at Marvel as well as two Spider-Men meeting for the first time…. As well, an array of interesting stuff all around.  It’s as great a time to be reading and collecting comics as any other!

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Vol. 3: 2009 – Here it is, and much quicker than I expected.  This is the final chapter of this run of LEOG and should be a cracker.  Whether the release alongside the ‘Before Watchmen’ is coincidence or planned I don’t know, just interesting is all.   I hope Moore has some other tales in store with the LOEG, particularly if he could mash them with some other literary classics now in the public domain.

The Massive – (Dark Horse) The blurb for this is truly inspiring “In a post-war, post-crash, post-disaster, post-everything world, the environmental-action trawler Kapital scours the earth’s oceans for its mysteriously missing sister ship, The Massive”  The gist of this is a group of environmentalists carry on their cause though the fate of the doomed earth is all but sealed.  Sounds like it may have some element of a rebelling Gaia them but we’ll have to wait and see.  Regardless, this could be of an epic scale tale, just the way I like ’em, and maybe you too.

Mars Attacks (IDW) – This is cool, check out this wiki entry for all the background on Mars Attacks.  In short, long before the quirky but cool Tim Burton movie, there was a card set called, Mars Attacks which caused a bit of a brouhaha back in the conservative ol’ days.  Well, IDW think the Martians needs another go at world domination and so here comes another wave.  The cool thing with the first issue is there will be 54 different covers, one for each of the card images released back in the 1962 set.  Watch the skies!

Haynes ‘Thunderbirds’ Owners’ Manual – Famous for their array of owners’ manual for a variety of vehicles, Haynes have also taken on some licensed properties, developing very credible looking manuals for vehicles that the richest of owners would struggle to house in their collections.  So, joining previous manuals for the Millennium Falcon and the U.S.S Enterprise comes one for International Rescue’s fleet of fantastic Thunderbirds!  Cut away, detailed diagrams and photographs await within.  While perhaps not the most practical of manuals, I’m damn sure it’d be one of the most impressive on anyone’s bookshelf.

Electronic copies of the April Previews have been mailed out.  Email the shop if you’d like to get on the mailing list.  Orders close on Tuesday 24 April 2012.
