Things are starting to heat up with Marvel’s releases.  They are definitely building up to a big storyline to run through 2012.  This is being set up in the second Fear Itself series as well as the start of a new Defenders and a mini series featuring the Avengers and a resurrected Cable!

A lot to look forward to, and don’t forget to treat yourself and stock up on one or three titles extra to enjoy over the Christmas break when you’re sure to have some extra down time to fill.  Check out the full release schedule here at CBR.

DEFENDERS #1 – You probably remember the Defenders if you’ve been around comics  a while.  They’re another who’s who of the Marvel universe.  So, why are they reformed?  Well, the first reason, Matt Fraction is going to write them!  Second, they are reuniting due to the fallout from Fear Itself so no doubt they will have a large role to play as things develop through 2012.  Lastly, ahhhhh, why not?  Sounds like a blast when you team up Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, Namor, Red She-Hulk, and the Silver Surfer.

AVENGERS: X-SANCTION #1 (of 4) – The ante just keeps getting raised.  This 4 part mini-series brings back Cable, and the plot has him out to wipe out the Avengers.

Marvel appears to be declaring this as the official starting point for the big event coming to the Marvel universe in 2012.  Given this is a mini-series that sounds more reasonable than mere hyperbole.

FORMIC WARS: SILENT STRIKE #1 (of 5) – Marvel continues the its successful strategy of developing complementary comic format stories to sit long side their prose-centric cousins.

Orson Scott Card is another high-profile author who has embraced this as he has now released a number of projects via Marvel, and this latest is a prequel story to Ender’s Game.

CARNAGE, U.S.A. #1 (of 5) – It’s been a while since we’ve enjoyed a psychotic Carnage mini-series, so here’s a nice fix.  Avengers and Spider-man vs Carnage.  This is just simply good fun as Carnage tries to have his way with small town U.S.A.

Orders are now open for all Marvel’s December releases!
