Here’s the highlights from the other two main player’s for January.  Actually there are no highlights this round from Image.  Their main focus for the start of the year is reprints of the Walking Dead to support the release of the TV series.  There are a couple of new releases but nothing interesting enough to point out just now.  Still if you want to have a look at Image’s full January line up, jump here to check it out.  Dark Horse on the other hand have a number of interesting releases, even a new round of licensed protectors for the I Phone 4.  To see the full releases for Dark Horse in January, go over to CBR here.

HELLBOY: THE SLEEPING AND THE DEAD #1 (of 2) AND B.P.R.D.: HELL ON EARTH—GODS #1 (of 3) – For you Mignola fans, here’s a double serving to kick off the year right.  Hellboy and Vampires and the BPRD investigate how a group of Texan outcasts can dodge armageddon.  This BPRD series will be the first of a story arc titled Gods and Monsters. 



BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #40: LAST GLEAMING part 5 (of 5) – I’m highlighting this simply because this is it.  The last ever Buffy issue – the end of the comic based Season 8!  You’re a bit late to the party if this vampire bashing gal is new to you but you can catch all her adventures on numerous DVD sets and graphic novels.  Raise a stake in honour to Buffy come January.



MASS EFFECT: EVOLUTION #1 (of 4) – More gaming goodness from the script writers of the two hugely successful games.  Want to know the background of the Illusive Man?  Then tune on in for four issues of Mass Effect goodness.




 STAR WARS: DARTH VADER AND THE LOST COMMAND #1 (of 5) – Darth Vader is sent to the Ghost Nebula to find a missing imperial expedition contain the son of Moff Tarkin.  Lead writer Haden Blackman has some serious Star Wars kudos having worked on many Star Wars projects including The Force Unleashed 1 and 2, The Clone Wars and many other books and comics.  It’s not too often Vader gets a lead role in comic so make the most of this if you’re a Vader fan.
