Like DC, by July man of Marvel’s storylines that kicked off earlier in the year will be in full flight.  But does that mean there’ll be no new stuff to check out?  Hell no!  There’s quite a few wee gems tucked away in the listings for July which you can check out in full at CBR.   There’s everything from classic MarvelMan treasures to new X-Men and Thor titles to the next big shake-up for Spidey.  Let’s put the spotlight on them a bit closer…

MARVELMAN FAMILY’S FINEST #1 (of 6) – Just to be clear, these are reprinted stories, but they haven’t been seen in some time so, along with the special hard cover on offer as well this month, this is your chance to see what all the fuss is about for this classic character.  These stories were written by the creator of MarvelMan, Mick Anglo.  Around the mid 1980’s Alan Moore revamped MarvelMan and these stories should hopefully also see reprinting in the near future.  So, get on board now where is all started and enjoy some classic spandex story-telling.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #638 & #639 – As discussed in a recent post, here is where the twists begin again for Spiderman.  In the two July issues, all Spiderman thinks he knows since One More Day is about to be turned on its head and no doubt cause our heads to spin as well.  If they can pull this off it should be a good ride and help to get those who didn’t like the recent ret-con back on board.

SPIDER-MAN/FANTASTIC FOUR #1 (of 4) – The classic team up ever since their first meeting waaay back in Amazing Spiderman #1.  But, all may not be too friendly in this encounter as the Fantastic Four are to act as body guards for Dr Doom on his visit to the Big Apple.

SHADOWLAND #1 (of 5) – The premise is that this is THE showdown between Daredevil and Bullseye as the streets of New York break out into chaos.  Now it may just be hyperbole, but take note Marvel are advising the last page will reveal a ‘jaw dropper’ in a way that reminds me of the impact the last page of Thunderbolts #1 had.  Only one way to find out true believers!

STEVE ROGERS: SUPER-SOLDIER #1 – Written by heavy hitter Ed Brubaker, this is promised as a true treat for all Captain America fans.

X-MEN #1 – A new X-men titles, with Vampires!  Launching a new X-men title, its good to see Marvel perhaps getting back to the basics with some core X titles which I hope to see given more structure once the Second Coming storyline concludes.  In the mean time, a new #1 is hard to turn down 🙂

THOR THE MIGHTY AVENGER #1 & #2 – A bit of a different take on the Thunder God but sounds like fun with oversized enemies and plots that verily, a true god of Asgard deserves nothing less!

SCARLET #1 – A rarity from Marvel, a creator owned title from Brian Michael Bendis.  A kick-ass heroine with many mysteries to be revealed.  It promises flavours such as Alias (TV series), Powers and Jinx and given it’s from Bendis, this could be a real treat for those who enjoy espionage action thrillers with strong characters.

Also, don’t forget to check out all the X-cellent X-Men storylines with Xenogenesis (Warren Ellis) and Second Coming and the progression of the Ultimate Universe plot that hits a new gear with Ultimate Comics Mystery #1 revealing more about the Ultimate Enemy’s end-game!

These and much more will be officially open for order next week but don’t hesitate to email your orders through once you’ve done your reading.
