Right, straight into DC’s April releases offered in the upcoming February Previews:

BRIGHTEST DAY #0 – Well we all know how bleak last year was for most, but hopefully (while acknowledging the terrible tragedy in Haiti), this year will be brighter, and that’s just how things are to be in the DCU.  Following on from the, thus far, well received Blackest Night event, this #0 issue serves as the launch for the upcoming 26 issue mini-series that will run through the year bi-weekly.  This is where is all begins…

THE FLASH #1 – That man Geoff Johns is at it again, this time he’ll be plotting a new era for one of DC’s cornerstone characters, the Flash with Barry Allen under the hood.  You’ve seen what Johns with Hal Jordan and others, don’t miss what is likely to be another enjoyable rebirth of a DC favourite.

BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM — MADNESS HC – Batman, Sam Keith, Arkum Asylum – some things just fit together hand-in-glove.  If you like the dark and macabre, if you enjoyed the recent next-gen Batman: Arkham Asylum game, if you just like the bizarre only as Keith can do (see the recent Lobo: Highway to Hell) then you’ll most likely enjoy this lavish HC release.

DOC SAVAGE #1 and THE SPIRIT #1 – Two of comic’s classic characters breath again in these new ongoing series.  Note Howard Porter (from Grant Morrison’s early JLA run) is on art duties with Doc Savage and in the back-up storyline in The Spirit, DENNIS O’NEIL and BILL SIENKIEWICZ provide the first hit out.

GARRISON #1 – A story of a man without an identity in a future where Big Brother does (or should) know everyone.  So how does this situation get resolved?   A classic sounding action/adventure story with Vertigo’s seasoning is sure to make this 6 issue mini-series a decent read.

SWEET TOOTH VOL. 1: OUT OF THE WOODS TP – I’ve mentioned this before and the hype about this book just keeps growing so make sure it’s on your list to check out.  In case you’ve glossed over the preamble, here it is, lifted straight from Previews “The first five issues of Jeff Lemire’s acclaimed new series introduce Gus, a rare new breed of human/animal hybrid who was raised in isolation following a pandemic that struck a decade earlier. Now, with the death of his father, he’s left to fend for himself . . . until he meets a hulking drifter named Jepperd, who promises to help him. Jepperd and Gus set out on a post-apocalyptic journey into the devastated American landscape to find ‘The Preserve,’ a refuge for hybrids.” – So there you have it.  Personally, I found the cover initially off-putting, but you know the saying about book covers 🙂

OK Gang, there you have it.  Plenty for you to go and check out.   With the recent holiday season, don’t forget to go back and check out the January Previews for some treasures that you can still order on time up till this coming Wednesday.
